I’m in a moody vegetable phase right now. Maybe it’s because the end of the harvest season is nearing and my garden was an ultimate failure this year. Squirrels, beetles, weeds, heat, and other attackers left me feeling very dismayed this summer. Then some plants just never produced any fruit. I wonder if there is some symbolic omen I should be taking from all of this. For now I will just paint my garden.

I love painting on a black background. The highlights and the colors just seam to pop so much more. And I like the idea of a bouquet of vegetables. Nothing against flowers but I think the shape and colors of vegetables are beautiful too. Maybe I can transfer all of my love of the vegetable flavors that I am missing out on to the beauty of the fruit through the painting.
