“We’ve often referred to this photo as ‘the most interesting dog in the world‘ like the man in the Dos Equis Beer commercials. If that gives you any inspiration.”

Oh it absolutely did!

I grabbed the deep green color of the Dos Equis beer. Bottle for the background color. And put him in a dramatic spotlight. The details of the hat were one of my favorite aspects of this pet portrait.

To achieve the dashing look of this pet portrait I used a combination of two photos. My client wanted the hat to be included but like the photo where Nog looked like he was smiling better for his face. I often use multiple photos of a subject to get the desired composition for the finished artwork.

As always I love being graced with the responsibility of capturing a beloved pet in a piece of artwork. Seeing the reaction from my clients when I can bring out their pet’s character or include a special memory or symbol into he artwork in my favorite part of delivering a finished piece.
