It had been quite a while since I had spent much time in this part of Arkansas. Over 30 years which is a life time in my book. I know as an under 5 year old we once visited Dogpatch, an old amusement park that was right ourside of Jasper. Now there is an interesting piece of Arkansas history in the story of this Ozark Hillbilly themed attraction. I read some articles on it and the subject has really peaked my interest, me being such an Arkansas history nut as it is. Maybe one day I will write a book on it.
But we had a nice time on the square in Jasper. Lunch at the Ozark Cafe was good and much needed after a morning of the buffalo, elk tracking, and general curvy road sightseeing.
This shot was taken somewhere in between the low blood sugar meltdown and the serving of lunch.
The square has lots a neat shops and restaurants and I can’t wait to go back for a day of just exploring the square.
I guess these vacation rentals are for the birds.
