White flowers and a family heirloom butterfly brooch made a beautiful bouquet at Hannah’s wedding. I have loved adding bridal bouquet portraits to my list of custom artwork options. Just as a building or house portrait captures memories of a special place, my bridal bouquet portraits become a unique work of floral art to remember your special day.

Truth of the fact is that I am lousy at buying presents. I never know what to get or what the person really wants or needs. So I’ve started giving artwork as a gift. House portraits, pet portraits, and now bridal bouquet portraits. I am on the younger end of long lines of grandchildren on both sides of my family. Which means I have a lot of cousins who have children all hitting the wedding stage. (After a bit of research I have learned the child of my cousin if my first cousin once-removed.)
So at Hannah’s family shower I gave her a small card saying that I would create a wedding bouquet portrait for her when she was ready. All I would need is a couple of photos and any details she might want highlighted. Her bouquet ended up being full of white roses and hydrangeas, bluish green eucalyptus, baby’s breath, and long leafy green filler. Wrapped with a rustic tan burlap ribbon, the stems were fastened off with a beautiful butterfly brooch of pale blue gemstones.
The butterfly brooch had belonged to Hannah’s maternal grandmother. Heather, Hannah’s mother, said that her mom had worn it to her prom. So the brooch was her something old and Something blue. It’s these stories and memories I love being attached to my custom commission artwork.

Art Supplies I Used
I used Prima Watercolor palettes Woodlands and Decadent Pies for this bridal bouquet portrait. These are some of my favorite color collections and they work perfectly for the subjects I usually paint. The Silver Black Velvet brushes are a favorite of mine too. They are so soft! And the barrel and stem of the brushes are easy to hold.
